Many Dietitians advice their clients to drink lots of water before their meals in an effort to reduce hunger. But is this method effective ?

Picture this; After drinking lots of water before your lunch, you eat just half the amount of food that you normally eat. But then, when the water gets absorbed by your body (which typically takes half an hour), you get the empty stomach feeling again. So you go ahead and eat more Food !!

Does that sound like an effective strategy ?

I keep around experimenting with new ways and strategies to help my clients eat less. In my experiments, I found that when you mix water and food (basically a soup), you feel full for a longer time than if you drink water and eat food separately. In fact, people who ate the soup felt hungry an hour after people who took it separately.

Now, I am no Biologist, and did not pursue the matter further. But, my guess is that when you eat soup, the stomach needs a longer period to separate the nutrients from the food.

Conclusion: Next time when you feel hungry, drink some soup instead of having water and food separately.
